Some 40 people, the bulk of which were dentists, visited the dental clinic at the end of December 2008. The chairperson Kerstin Lundgren informed about the Oral Health Project and the oral hygienist described her work and also informed the audience what it is like to live in Khayelitsha.
A new plaque has been placed at the wall close to the entrance to the dental clinic.
Kerstin Lundgren, chairperson and dentist, worked as a volunteer at the dental clinic during November and December 2008.
Visiting dentists and dental students in July/August 2008
The Swedish dentists Dr. Ingrid Karlsson Arndt, Ftv Kungshamn, och Dr. Mina Mehrpuor, Ftv Bergsjön, will travel to Khayelitsha outside Cape Town in August 2008 to work for 4 weeks at the dental clinic.
Ms. Ntsiki Khau is employed half-time as oral hygienist at the dental clinic. Ntsiki lives in Khayelitsha and speaks Xhosa (in addition to English). Ntsiki has previously worked for two years as an oral hygienist at a private dental clinic.
